This year, one of my first New Year's resolutions was to keep better track of my finances. Shoeboxes full of receipts and tax calculations done on the back of envelopes just won't cut it anymore.

To help me out, I've gone into ZDNet Downloads and found three programs for helping me manage my finances and taxes this year.

TaxACT 2000 is a great, free program that includes more than 80 tax forms, schedules and worksheets, along with a clear interview that steps you through completing your return. (Shareware/Win95-98-NT) Click for more.

Personal Money Management is a no-frills Excel worksheet that lets you easily see where your money is going and lets you take control of your budget. (Shareware/Win95-98-NT) Click for more.

J&L Financial Planner can develop financial scenarios for important events such as a home purchase, college planning or retirement. (Shareware/Win95-98-NT) Click for more.

Now if I could only find a piece of software to make the NASDAQ go through the roof -- that would be well worth the download.

P.S. If you need help, I've linked the Easy Download Guide in the sidebar. And for more of my favorite downloads, be sure to bookmark our Killer Downloads page. Click for more.
